High-performance version of the 1972 S-Class (W116) with extended wheelbase. It was produced in 1975-1981. It replaced the 300 SEL 6.3 and was considered the flagship model of Mercedes-Benz. It is powered by a 6.9-litre V8 engine and automatic transmission. With 286 horsepower, it reaches a top speed of 225 km/h. It was also the first car to incorporate ABS. Some of its notable owners include James Hunt, John F. Kennedy Jr. and Frank Sinatra.
