The Ferrari 308 GTB is one of the Italian brand’s most distinctive sports coupes. Early models, known as “Vetroresina,” are characterized by their fiberglass body, which was later replaced by a steel version.
The model was introduced in 1975 with a design by Pininfarina and a body by Scaglietti. Its low profile and mid-engine layout created a compact, sporty package.
The car shown here was delivered by a Ferrari dealer in Rome in June 1976. It is a European version with an eight-cylinder engine equipped with a dry-sump system. According to the auction catalog, the identification numbers for the body, engine, and transmission all match.
During the restoration, it was repainted in its original Azzurro Metallizzato shade. The interior was reupholstered, changing from the original blue leather to a beige combination that, along with the paint job, pays homage to the show car from the 1975 Paris Motor Show.
In 2019, the car received Ferrari Classiche certification. Its story combines the early design of the 308 model with a thorough restoration and an unusual color combination. The blue paint gives the familiar lines a different look than what we’re used to seeing on a Ferrari.
