The BMW 3.0 CSL is one of the most significant homologation models of its time. The model was developed with the goal of succeeding in European touring car championships, and it was its racing versions that laid the foundation for the success of the BMW Motorsport division.
The 3.5-Liter FIA version is a thoroughbred race car built in accordance with the FIA Historic Technical Passport regulations. It retains the iconic look of the CSL model, but beneath its elegant bodywork lies technology designed exclusively for track use.
Under the hood is a 3.5-liter inline-six engine that produces approximately 384 koní. The engine is paired with a 5-speed Getrag manual transmission, Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, and other racing components that ensure both high performance and reliability.
At first glance, it catches the eye:
- the iconic “Batmobile” aerodynamic package
- with flared fenders and a large rear spoiler
- painted in traditional BMW Motorsport colors
- a lightweight design engineered for optimal driving performance
The BMW 3.0 CSL dominated European circuits throughout the 1970s and played a major role in building the brand’s reputation in motorsports. To this day, it remains one of the most revered classic race cars and is considered one of the most important models in BMW’s history.
