The 1952 Porsche 356 is one of the rarest models in the brand’s history. This particular example is the America Roadster version, which was developed at the initiative of American importer Max Hoffman as a lightweight sports car intended primarily for the American market. It was this model that became the direct predecessor of the legendary Porsche 356 Speedster.
The body was handcrafted from aluminum, which significantly reduced its weight. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine, which, combined with the car’s light weight, offered excellent handling for its time.
This particular specimen is extremely rare:
- one of only 16 units ever produced
- one of approximately 10 specimens that have survived to this day
- Original matching-numbers engine
- The only known example that came from the factory with a racing filler neck on the hood.
