The Porsche 550 Spyder is one of the most legendary sports cars of all time. It was the first Porsche model designed primarily for racing, and it was with this car that the brand began to build its reputation in the world of motorsports.
Under the lightweight aluminum body sat a 1.5-liter Carrera four-cylinder engine, mounted in front of the rear axle. Combined with a weight of around 550 kg, it offered exceptional handling and achieved success on racetracks around the world.
This particular example is exceptionally interesting because it is the second-to-last of the 90 custom-built 550 Spyders produced. Furthermore, it was built for the legendary Porsche importer John von Neumann, and during its career, it was also driven by the well-known race car driver Richie Ginther.
At first glance, it catches the eye:
- low, open-top body
- minimalist racing cockpit
- distinctive rear intake vents
- a clean, functional design without any unnecessary elements
Estimated price: €2,750,000 – €3,200,000
Today, the Porsche 550 Spyder is one of the most important models in the brand’s history and ranks among the most sought-after classic Porsches of all time.
