The Fiat 8V, also known as the Otto Vu, is one of the most interesting Italian sports cars of the 1950s. Built between 1952 and 1954, it was powered by its own 2.0-litre V8 engine, a rarity for the Fiat brand to this day. In total, only 114 examples of the 8V were built.
Many of the chassis were given bodies by renowned Italian studios, and among the rarest are the Vignale versions designed by Giovanni Michelotti. The Vignale coupé impresses with its elegant proportions, distinctive radiator grille and typical Italian lines of its era.
Under the hood is an atmospheric 2.0-liter V8 that has been mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. Thanks to its light weight and sporty character, the Fiat 8V was one of the most interesting GT cars of its time.
This particular example offered by RM Sotheby’s is one of the rarest versions of the 8V, and represents the fusion of Fiat technology with Vignale’s hand-built coachwork.
