The Mercer 35-J Raceabout is one of the most legendary American sports cars of the early 20th century. century. Unlike most of its competitors, it didn’t rely on a huge engine, but on light weight, compact dimensions and excellent driveability.
Under the bonnet was a T-head four-cylinder with around 60 horsepower, which combined with the low weight made for exceptional dynamics for the time. The Mercer quickly built a reputation as a car that was very hard to beat on the road and on the racetrack.
This particular example is also desirable because it is a late model with a 4-speed manual transmission and a documented history dating back to the 1930s. The car was part of the Sam Mann collection for over 25 years.
