The Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 is one of the most iconic homologation specials of the 1980s. years. The model was created for the Group B rally group, which is still considered to be the most extreme era of rallying.
Although it was based on the small Peugeot 205 hatchback, technically it was a completely different car. The engine was mounted in the middle and drive was directed to all four wheels.
Under the bonnet was a 1.8-litre turbocharged engine that produced around 200bhp in the road-going version, but the racing versions went significantly higher.
Design was fully subordinated to performance – flared fenders, large intake ports and a short wheelbase made the Turbo 16 an aggressive and very agile car.
This particular piece impresses with its typical rally looks and proportions that immediately distinguish the Turbo 16 from the regular Peugeot 205.
Interestingly, production was low – around 200 road-going examples were built to meet Peugeot’s Group B homologation rules.
