The letter “K” stands for Kompressor, i.e. compressor. Under the hood was a 5.0-liter inline 8-cylinder, which, when the compressor was activated, increased power significantly. It was one of the most advanced technologies for its time.

The 500 K was available in a variety of body styles – from sleek cabriolets to sportier roadsters. Many were hand-built to customer specifications, making each car unique.

The design is typical of pre-war luxury cars – long bonnet, prominent fenders, large chrome elements and majestic proportions that still look very imposing today.
