The Lancia Stratos HF is one of the most legendary rally cars in history. Unlike most cars of the time, it was not a modified production model – the Stratos was designed purely for rally homologation from the outset, making it completely unique.
Only about 500 units were produced to meet homologation rules, which greatly increases its value and exclusivity.
Under the bonnet is the 2.4-litre V6 engine from the Ferrari Dino, mounted across the back of the cabin. Power output of the road-going version was around 190bhp, but the racing versions went significantly higher.
The Stratos’ greatest weapon, however, was not just the engine, but the concept – short wheelbase, light weight (approx. 980 kg) and extreme agility, making it the ideal car for narrow and technical rally tracks.
The design was created by Marcello Gandini (Bertone) and is still one of the boldest today – the wedge shape, short overhangs and aggressive proportions make this car instantly recognisable.
