The 1988 BMW M6 represents the pinnacle of the E24 model range and is one of the most important BMW sports models of its time. In Europe, this model was referred to as the M635CSi, but technically it is the same car.

The biggest attraction is the engine – a 3.5-litre inline 6-cylinder (S38) based on the legendary BMW M1. It produced around 286 horsepower, allowing a top speed of around 250 km/h.

The E24 retains the typical BMW design – the long bonnet, low silhouette and iconic “shark nose” front end, which is angled slightly towards the driver. The M version adds sportier touches such as aerodynamic add-ons, wheels and interior detailing.

The chassis was tuned sportier than the regular versions, but still retained the comfort that makes the M6 an ideal GT car for long hauls.

The interior was driver-oriented, with an emphasis on the quality of materials and ergonomics – the centre console facing the driver is a typical feature.
