The Alfa Romeo 2600 is a large car produced in Italy (Milan) and South Africa between 1962 and 1968 as the company’s flagship model and replacement for the 2000. It was sold as a 4-door saloon, 2-door convertible and coupe with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. It was introduced to the public at the Geneva Motor Show. It is the company’s last car powered by an inline 6-cylinder engine with two camshafts in the head.
The 2600 was powered by a 2.6-litre I6 engine with power ratings ranging from 130 hp (96 kW) to 165 hp (121 kW) depending on version, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. In total, just over 11,000 examples were produced.
