The Dodge Coronet is a car produced in full-size from 1949 to 1959 and in mid-size from 1965 to 1976. It was sold in seven generations with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine as a successor to the Custom.

The third generation was produced between 1955 and 1956 in the USA and Canada. The cars were available in 2-/4-sedan, 2-door hardtop and 2-/4-door station wagon versions. Their bodies were redesigned to be lower, wider and longer than the crude pre-war style. They were powered by either a 3.8-liter I6 or a 4.4/5.2-liter V8 engine.
