The De Tomaso Pantera is a sports car produced in Italy (Modena) between 1971 and 1992 as a successor to the Mangusta. It was sold as a 2-door coupe and targa with rear-wheel drive and a rear-middle-mounted engine. Italian for “panther”, it was the carmaker’s most popular model.
The car was introduced to the public at the 1970 New York Auto Show. It was powered by a 4.9-litre or 5.8-litre V8 engine, with outputs ranging from 246 hp (197 kW) to 500 hp (373 kW). The engine was mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. In total, more than 7 thousand examples were produced.
