The Alfa Romeo Alfetta is a car produced in Italy and South Africa between 1972 and 1987. It was sold as a 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. The name translates to “little Alfa” and is derived from the Alfa Romeo Alfetta (Tipo 159), a successful Formula One car.
The car was available with several petrol and diesel engines during its years of production, ranging from a 1.6-litre I4 to a 2.6-litre V8. Their outputs ranged from 81 hp (60 kW) to 230 hp (171 kW), and were mated to a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. In total, more than 400,000 examples were produced.
