The Maserati Mexico is a grand tourer produced in Italy (Modena) between 1966 and 1972. It was sold as a 2-door, 4-seater coupe with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. It was based on the second series of the original Maserati Quattroporte and was powered by the same engines.
The design was derived from the prototype presented at the 1965 Turin Motor Show. Plans to put it into production only began after the prototype had been accepted by the public. The production version was unveiled at the 1966 Paris Motor Show. The car was initially only available with a 4.7-litre V8 engine producing 290 hp (216). In 1969 a 4.2-litre variant was added. The engines were mated to a 3-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission. In total, just under 500 examples were produced. It was replaced by the Kyalami model.
