The Pontiac Firebird is an American automobile produced from 1967 to 2002 in four generations. It was designed as a pony car to compete with the Ford Mustang. It was introduced to the public in February 1967, five months after the introduction of the Camaro. The name “Firebird” was also used by GM in the 1950s for the Firebird series of concept cars.

The Trans Am was a special package for the Firebird that improved handling, suspension and performance with minor appearance modifications. It was introduced in 1969 and continued throughout the production run. Engines were available in V6 and V8 configurations during production, with displacements ranging from 3.8-litres to 7.5-litres.
