The MG MGB is a 2-door sports car produced in England (Abingdon) and several other countries between 1962 and 1980. It was first introduced to the public in September 1962. It was available in 3 variants namely: the 2+2 MGB GT coupe (1965 – 1980), the MGC sports coupe (1967 – 1969) and the 2+2 MGB GT V8 coupe (1973 – 1976). It had a front-mounted engine that powered the rear axle.

The cars were powered by a 1.8-litre I4 engine, with the exception of the GT V8 version, which was powered by a 3.5-litre V8 engine. The I4 engine produced 95 hp (71 kW) and enabled the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in about 11 s. The V8 engine produced 150 hp (111 kW) and enabled the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 s and reach a top speed of 200 km/h (200 mph). The engines were mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. In total, more than half a million examples were produced.
