The Mercedes-Benz W112 is a luxury car produced in West Germany from 1961 to 1967 as a replacement for the W188 and W189. It was sold as a 4-door sedan (1961-1965), 2-door coupe and convertible (1962-1967) with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. These luxury cars were the pinnacle of the Mercedes range until the introduction of the much larger, ultra-luxury 600 Series in 1963.
The cars were powered by the 3-litre 6-cylinder inline-6 M189 engine, which was the largest in the company’s history at the time of the model’s introduction. All were finished with higher levels of wood and leather trim and had standard luxury features such as power steering and aic transmission. In total, just under 10,000 examples were produced.
