The Maserati Biturbo is a series of high-performance grand tourers produced in Italy between 1981 and 1994 as replacements for the Merak and Kyalami models. They were sold as a 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan and 2-door convertible with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. The original Biturbo was a 4-seater coupe with a luxurious interior, powered by a 2-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. All subsequent models were based on this version.

The first 4-door biturbo, produced between 1983 and 1986, the 425 was powered by an “export” 2.5-litre engine. In 1984, it received a new instrument panel. 2 years later, a 2-liter version (Model 420) was added for the domestic market, produced from 1985-1986, along with the more powerful 420 S. This S version had better handling, cooling, and the same aesthetics as the Biturbo S.
