The MG MGB is a sports car produced in England and several other countries between 1962 and 1980 by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), later a division of Austin-Morris (British Leyland). It was sold as a 2-door roadster with a rear-wheel drive engine located at the front. It was introduced to the public in September 1962. Other variants of the car include the 3 door 2+2 MGB GT coupe (1965-1980), the MGC coupe (1967-1969) and the 2+2 MGB GT V8 coupe (1973-1976). In total, more than half a million examples were sold.
The MG MGB roadster was powered by a 1.8-litre I4 engine with 95 hp (71 kW) and could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in about 11 s. The car was equipped with a 4-speed manual gearbox as standard. A 3-speed aic transmission was also available, but this was not very popular.
