Alfa Romeo was one of the first mainstream manufacturers to put a powerful engine in a lightweight, production, 4-door, 1-ton car.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Spider was essentially a Giulia TI, which was reintroduced in 1968 as a lower-level model. It was powered by a 1.6-litre engine and 94 hp (70 kW), mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It had similar equipment to the 1300 ti and was replaced in 1970 by the 1300 Super, which offered similar performance in a lower tax bracket.
