The MG MGA is a sports car produced in England and Australia from 1955 to 1962. It was sold as a 2-door roadster and coupe with rear-wheel drive and the engine located up front. It was introduced to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a replacement for the TF 1500 Midget with a completely new design. In total, more than 100,000 examples were produced, most of which were exported.
The car was powered by a 1.5-litre I4 engine with a output of 68 hp (51 kW), which was later increased to 72 hp (54 kW). This allowed it to reach a speed of 157 km/h (157 mph) and accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h (97 mph) in 16 s. It had hydraulic drum brakes on all wheels and its average fuel consumption was 10.6 l/100 km (10.6 US mpg).
