The Lancia Lambda is an innovative automobile produced between 1922 and 1931 in nine series. It was sold as a torpedo and saloon with rear-wheel drive and the engine located in the front. It was the first car with a full load-bearing chassis and also pioneered the use of independent suspension. A total of around 11,200 examples were produced of which the eighth generation accounted for the largest part.
The car was powered by three V4 engines, whose displacement and power increased over the generations. The first to sixth generations were powered by a 2.1-litre engine with 49 hp (36 kW). The seventh was powered by a 2.4-litre engine with 59 hp (43 kW). The eighth and ninth were powered by a 2.6-litre engine with 69 hp (51 kW). The engines were mated to a 3-speed (1-4 series) or 4-speed (5-9 series) manual transmission.
